HOW-TO : MAKE & DECORATE Marbled Paper Gift Bags
Equipment
You will need plain paper bags, marbling paints, straws, a tray, newspapers, stencils, (if you're unsure of your drawing skills) and a black marker.
Workstation
Spread newspaper on table . Half fill the tray with water and have clean straws ready.
Preparation
Fold a newspaper page or a piece of card made to size, inside the bag to prevent marker staining going through the folds of the bag.
Instructions
-
Place your chosen stencil/s on the bag carefully. Hold the stencil in place while colouring it in. Remove and repeat until you are pleased with your design. Add your own extra bits, but remember not to do too much. You need to show lots of the marbling.
-
Sprinkle a few drops of 3 chosen colours onto the water and blow it around using a straw. You won't see much colour - but it's there – don't be fooled.
-
Remove the inner newspaper/ card. Carefully lift the bag over the water and gently place onto the film of paint in the tray. Press the bag down without letting it go under water to limit air bubbles and lift your bag straight off the surface.
-
Voila!
The bag should dry almost immediately, but give it a chance to dry properly before filling it with gifts!
